I know you must delete some stuff from me without reading it, hence the subject line: to catch and hold your attention. I'm writing to you about something I think will make a big difference in our community (again) and that is: Community Currency. Many of us were sorry to see Sound Hours go out of circulation because it was a great idea - but hard to maintain.

There's a new community currency happening all over Washington State called Life Dollars. There's over 600 members but it's just getting started in Oly. (Just 3 of us so far!) The founder of Fourth Corner Exchange, Francis Ayley, is going to be giving a talk at the Olympia Center on Monday, Nov 10th from 7 - 9 and you'll have a chance to ask questions after a short animated film called "Money as Debt."

We are only a handful of organizers, but our goal is to have 30 new members in Oly by the end of this year. To that end, we're also holding a series of potlucks with the theme of economic resilience. They will be here at Fertile Ground on the following Tuesdays: Nov 18, Dec 2, Dec 16, Dec 30. There will be discussion themes to address ways we can all bolster our finances during these uncertain times. If you have any ideas about that, please do contact us.
