The April 25th Center Conversation will feature Michael Argetsinger discussing his newest book, Mark Donohue: Technical Excellence at Speed

This month’s Conversation certainly promises to be one you won’t want to miss and is the opening event in a weekend of activities centered around the official release of Argetsinger’s book. As always, this month’s Conversation will begin at 1PM and admission is free to all. The talk will focus on a discussion of the book, Mark Donohue: Technical Excellence at Speed, and will include comments and recollections by some of the people who were part of who were part of Donohue’s storied career including, Karl Kainhofer, Malcolm Starr, Jerry Kroninger, Walter Czarnecki, John Woodard, Don Cox, Daniel Luginbuhl and Mark’s oldest son, Michael. A reception in the Center‘s lobby will follow.

The book, published by David Bull Publishing of Phoenix, AZ, is the first complete biography of the American driver-engineer who set the standard for speed and sophistication in motor racing, features a foreword by Roger Penske and is priced at $39.95. Fans who purchase the book during the weekend will also have the chance to have their copy signed by the author and many of the “Donohue people” who will be present. Argetsinger's first book, “Walt Hansgen: His Life and the History of Post-War American Road Racing was critically acclaimed and received a Gold Medal for biography and was named Best of Books for 2006 at the International Automotive Media Awards and this book promises to garner similar notoriety and acclaim.

As an added attraction on Saturday, some of ex-Donohue racecars that will be participating in Sunday’s Tribute Laps will be on display throughout the day, beginning at 11AM. The cars will include Donohue’s first race car, an Elva Courier, the Shelby GT 350R that he drove to the 1965 Northeast Division, SCCA, B production championship, two Lola T70 USRRC/Can-Am cars, the turbo-charged Eagle that he drove at the Indianapolis 500 in 1973, a Porsche 917-30 Can-Am car and a Penske PC-1 Formula One car.
