Good evening my fellow Barbarians.
I wanted to say that this club is an amazing piece of my life that I definitely don’t take for granted. From new friendships I’ve made, to playing alongside you fellas each season; you’ve all made a huge impact on my life. And I hope I’ve done the same for you.
With that being said, I want all of you, both past and present Barbos, to know that you are IMPORTANT to this club. Whether you are still in boots or drinking out of one on the sideline, YOU MATTER to this club.
As many an ol’ boy will tell you, this club was built to play the game we love and HAVE FUN doing it! We are the team that plays as hard as we party! Each and every one of you is part of continuing that culture within this club.
The best part of being a Barbarian is that no matter the odds, we show up and show out for any occasion! Match day or birthday, Barbos are there. The recent forfeit to Savannah left me thinking that the Barbarians need a reminder…
This club came from scraping guys together, rollin’ 10-11 deep with devilish grins and barbaric grit, to face powerhouse teams that knew the Barbarians would never back down from a challenge. No matter the outcome, they had fun being there in the moment.
Our club is at a point where we’ve got various life events, injuries, and even retirements happening; but we shouldn’t let that dampen the fire we’ve got burning in our camp. I consider the Savannah forfeit to be a one-off, as never in our club’s history have we given up the opportunity to crash the gates.
I encourage you all to dig deep and make yourselves available to play the greatest game, with the greatest men, for the greatest club on earth. No matter who we’ve got kitted on match day, we play and we have FUN! And if you’ve hung ‘em up or just healin’ up, come support your boys in blue.
Let’s remind this league who we are, and have fun doing it! Thank you.

President, Charlotte Barbarians RFC
