Dear Friends:

As you know Amra kojon is gearing up to present "রূপালী আলোয় ধূসর অতীত" or “Nostalgic Tunes from the Silver Screen” on Saturday, May 24th, 2008, in celebration for its fifth anniversary, along with the Bengali New Year 1415, hosted by Bangladesh Students' Association of MIT (MIT-BSA).

In preparation for this event, we started our rehearsals in March.  The children’s segment, a very crucial part of this show, will serve to introduce to our new generations, melodies that our previous generations grew up cherishing.  The children have had a few rehearsals to get familiar with the songs.  However, in addition we would like to fine tune the songs and add various dances and acts to this segment in order to enhance the true flavor of our children’s segment.

The smile on the faces of the grandparents watching their grandchildren/children singing songs like “Amader deshta swapnapuri” or “Emon moja hoy na” is simply invaluable.  Many of them may be watching this show from far away, but the immense pride that they will take in having this new generation perform these familiar melodies, will be priceless.

Please inform us if you would like to have your children get involved in this segment. Let us introduce our children to the tunes that we can all take pride in and that they will remember forever.
