Hi,

I had tried to register, but even before it reached the payment gateway stage i was getting an error. However my name is now present in the registered list? .. So is my registration complete? Shall I just transfer the money now?

Regards,
Nithin Philip

You should have a link in your mail from the registration. Go ahead and pay . If you cannot locate the registration payment confirmation, simply go through the process again and indicate you have paid.

There is no payment gateway.

It's a NEFT payment.

Hello,
I registered myself for Anchetty 200KM Brevet on Monday(2nd June).. I am seeing my name in the registration list, in fact, twice, though i intended to register only once. But i have not got any mail till now and neither the amount is deducted from my account.
How to ensure that my name is registered??

Regards,
Aravind.

How will they deduct amount from your account when they do not ask for:

1) Bank
2) Account Number

?

You have to initiate transfer by NEFT, man :)

Slightly off-topic, but the Anchetty Brevet route goes through the heart of Melagiris. This area between the Cauvery and Chinnar rivers play stage to as many as 20 of the 57 Kenneth Anderson jungle-lore.

You will be biking through the same roads Anderson used to roam around in his Studebaker, passing by the same jungles which used to be home to a variety of wild denizens including the occasional man-eater or a rouge elephant! Stories like Man-eater of Jowlagiri, The Sulekunta Panther and Black Panther of Sivanapalli play out pretty much along the brevet route itself. Add to this, another dozen stories that take place in hamlets around the villages of Anchetty and Denkanikottai...

I think it will be good fun if the participants read some of the stories which unfold along the route before riding the brevet. I'd compiled a list a while ago, and marked them on a map. Do check if you are interested :)

Stories along the Route:
The Black Panther of Sivanapalli
Maneater of Jowlagiri
The Sulekunta Panther
A Night by the Camp Fire

Stories from around Anchetty-Denkanikottai:
The Spotted Devil of Gummalapur
Sher Khan and Bettamugalam Maneater
The Anabiddahalla Tigress
The Dumb Man-eater of Talavadi
The Rogue Elephant of Panapatti
The Strange case of Gerhetti Leopard
The Novice of Manchi
The Marauder of Kempakarai
The Crossed Tusker of Gerhetti
A Night in Spider Valley

All these stories are present in Kenneth Anderson Omnibus Vol 1 & 2. Books/ebooks are available in Flipkart/Amazon.

Map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zPtfYE8Oq84Q.kL7Hp2KqJA1I (click on the pins in the map for details)

May be next year, we can request the Brevet to be given a Kenneth Anderson theme :)

There are 60+ registrations. Try to come early and get the formalities (bike check, sign waiver, etc) done so that you can start on time..

Please carry a working ballpoint pen (or two). You'll need it to sign
the waiver at the start, and it'll save you some time if you don't
have to borrow one.

Bikers,

I was there to witness the starting.....looks like this one is IVC ride for 1,000k finishers.....7 or 8 of the 1,000 k finishers are riding today (in fact i lost the count....)

super charged energy to be there....

Calling Anchetty 200km as IVC ride is an insult to organizers , riders and the route. Believe me , it is the toughest 200km with lots
and lots of climbs - You should check how many started and how many finished.

But Anil, you were there at the end point , you got snacks and water for finishers - you are awesome.

Indeed. I dropped off at thali, despite reaching there at 11.26 .. The climbs till thali were hard and I did not have the energy to do the anchetty climbs. So I took a bus at thali. Next time maybe

Rajani, you forgot the heat. They were a bigger reason for many not finishing than the climbs themselves.

Anchetty - IVC ride 😄😄😄

The climbs were so intriguingly prolong & painful that most of us forgot to eat anything for the whole day.

thank you & regards

Thanks to Kalpesh and Promise also for all the company and good times together till we started receiving the finishers....

@Rk,

I have never seen so many 1k finishers and SR's (not just single SR's, double and triple SR's) in any other brevets, that itself tells how challenging this route is and how much they love this route....

@Sohan,

you are right, that is what i meant in fact....hehehe

@Suman,

Guys did not eat because of climbs or not much eating options were available?

 @Chiddu,

looking for your blog post.....title i will leave it you.....as usual you always surprise me and it continued on Saturday too.

reason of not eating -

1. climb
2. over exhaustion
3. not many suitable option at appropriate locations
4. lack of planning
5. weather condition

I was impressed to see one of the guys  Yousef, finishing on a MyBike. Though I wonder what condition his knees are in now.

I saw yousef on the mybike and he was awesome. I was struggling with my road bike and there he was with his fixed gear wonder :-)
It was my first brevet (infact my first 100+ ride) and I surprised myself as I had no clue what to expect from a brevet, let alone hairpin bends and rolling terrain.

I would like to thank the company i got on the ride - Mrinal, Rajnikanth, and a couple of other awesome bikers.
special mention of the juice center guy who had the most delicious mixed-fruit punch which all of us had a few glasses of !!!! :-)

till the next challenging route.

cheers,
prashanth

Old thread, I know... But just came across this old picture of Kenneth Anderson at Anchetty stream in the facebook group. I'm guessing sometime in the 1940s or 50s...

Some one did this on a my bike during the last Anchetty brevet, while carrying a floor pump in his backpack.
