Bangalore Bicycling School, Cubbon Park Session, Sunday 1st March 2026
warm day again but some clouds too. Police run bandobast was unusually strict and first time in more than 10 years Ali could not get in with his cycle, left it outside Hudson church. Other volunteers managed somehow !!
Trainers : Bhoomika, Vinay, Ganesh, Shriya, Aman, Ali
Hello: Satish is Bhoomika's pharmacology teacher in RGHU College of Nursing and regular cyclist
Newbies :
Akshiya : Bhoomika reports : this was her first class i taught her safety checks, free hand, and static balancing finally mounting and Dismounting, she was very anxious.
Sonika : A passer-by, came with her husband. She had learnt but not been riding. Ali did not give any gyan !😳🤣 She slowly lost her trepidation and was pedalling uphill nicely. It was difficult downhill, lacked proper braking
Ongoing Learners:
Ankan- Scooting reasonably well but speed control yet to be smooth. Not able to walk the bike uphill.
Anuha - Came late, rode on her own and disappeared!
Gaurav- Scooting with significant lurch. Improved significantly during the session . Ok sent half pedalling, but tends to push with the left foot
Koushani : Roy sisters returned after a break induced by ill health. Riding confidently, but still dodgey with controlled braking. Needs to move on to circles, figure of 8. Although mentioned about signalling being taught previously.
Manali : Aman reports: "Came after a month as she was unwell. Practiced start and stop as she was struggling with the same. Was a bit low on energy but tried her best.." Again, needs to move on to circles and Figure of 8.
Manjari : Turned up late, as she does most of the time, with family. Did fairly controlled riding but not sure of further progress in terms of road ready skills.
Vismaya : Sincere rider, came early and remained almost till the end. Turning is good. Should move on to circles and Figure of 8.
Prerna- Determined to plough on .., needs to concentrate on empowering hands to do the balancing, and avoid keeping foot down too often
Sharon- Continued with uphill, managing halfway well till slope accentuates. Suggested half pedal further on. Technique of half pedalling reinforced, especially tilting bike enough to be able to do proper heel-toe walk with the left foot
Ganesh demonstrated how to get on and off a bike with a top tube, from front of the saddle ; learnt during the school days when the back carrier held school bag, preventing from usual method of swinging the leg above the saddle to get it on the other side. Brilliant ...must try !
**Keep pedaling and see you next weekend! 🚴♂️🌿**
