Hello boys and girls,
its only Tuesday and I'm seriously itching for the next CENTURY+.
Shall we do Nandi, little boring I know, but theres a nice climb, and
if we do propper team riding again it will be great fun getting there
and back.
Any other location is totally welcome, as long as road surface and
traffic is good.
Come on folks it is time for the Second edition, Rushi, Sriram, Iggy,
Rohan, I'm counting on you guys.
Ullas, if your on this forum buddy, we can stop if we see flowers or
locals to your liking, one pit stop guaranteed.
Attached for you, is a picture on one of our (Ravi Ranjan, George and
me) previous Sunday rides where we stopped to smell the flowers and
talk to the farmers.
[Just so you know that the Fast and Furious are still human :) ]
Nice report on BikesZone, very funny :)

Shashank and I were talking about doing a long ride this weekend.
Nandi can fit the bill.

Shashank/Anand, are you game?

Sreeeeeeeeeeram??? Magaa, who will eat my chicki?
Joshine...girl power! Hope the ankle is better, you did Sikkim, that

Mountain Bikers,

So if I understand things correctly:

1. Meet at Cubbon Park where MG Road ends, leave from there at 6:30
2. Two groups, one road bikes who are supposed to go faster let by Mr.
Who-ate-my-chikki-and-why-u-wearin-those-shorts Vivek, another MTBs
led by Mr. My-road-bike-is-on-order Jagan
3. Ride to Nandi along the National Highway and be back by around noon
4. Bring your own farmers and flowers because we won't be stopping for them
5. If you want to drive up to some point, there's a coffee day 6km
before airport on the highway with ETA around 7:15 and the highway
exit turn that goes to Nandi Hills (~22km from hill top) with ETA
around 8.

Sounds good?

Ha : )
Rushi, I'm picking myself of the floor!
That is exactly right, we should report at Vicky's statue at 6:20,
there is a severe punishment for late arrivals!

MTB crew, don't leave Jagan out there by him self at the mercy of the
cynical roadies, SIGN UP!

Hi guys,

I'll be making a slight change of plan.
I am planning to cover 200Km. Drive until columbia asia, and start cycling from there.
I shall continue on the highway after nandi turn until 80Km point, come back 30, climb nandi and back to highway, 44, and back to columbia asia. Will circle around to touch the 200 km mark. Plan to start pedaling by 5:30, and hopefully finish the 200Km in under 8.5Hrs.

Let me know if someone would like to join.

Thanks
Sharath.

You did miss a very good ride. It was tough going on the way back, very hot and sultry. Luckily there was no headwind on the highway.

On the climb today, we saw the roadies disappear faster than Katrina Kaif's dresses. A large part would be the fitness and ability of the riders, of course, but those who have ridden MTB/roadbikes on climbs, can you contrast the relative performance? Is there something about a climb that amplifies the speed advantage of a roadbike?

"Beautiful weather, but a bad ride day for me"

That sums it all up. Little did i realise that my bike had already done 6k+ kms, and the tyres were showing signs of shredding. So i managed to have multiple flats, and even a deep cut over the typre when i rode over a sharp stone, a little close to Bagepally town.

Continued on the hyd highway as planned, but the highway is under construction, which  gave a feel of the road to electronics city with diversions n stuff. I had already had a flat by then. When i reached close to bagepally, the tyre just blew with a hisssssss. Noticed a fine cut on the edge of the tyre. Basically, time to change!

So there you go, i ran out of patches, and picked up a pice of truck tube(am not kiddin') lying on the road, and made a patch! I immediately headed back knowing my luck today, and by the time i reached devanahalli i had fix two more! By this time my fingers hurt, and i was very very frustrated!. I met jaleel en route before my final flat! Grabbed some water melon en route.

So i said no point riding further, coz i cannot fix another flat for sure, and got a drop from a kind taxi driver. I only had to pay him Rs. 20! :), which i think think is the only best part of the day, apart from the weather which was not punishing, knowing its summer.

Covered some 115Kms, leaving my double century plan to be completed next time.

Until next time.

Thanks
Sharath.

Having never been on an MTB for more than 3 minutes, I can't comment.
But I will anyway :P

Climbing on my road bike vs. hybrid.
1. Weight.
2. Posture gives efficiency; on the road bike I can sit back and hold
the bars near the stem and grind it out, or get up and 'walk' on the
pedals. Not sure if the regular MTBs allow that. The 'hybrid' won't
because it's built like a throne. Another reason why these 'city'
bikes are good only for city rides :-)
3. Weight.

On the other hand, MTBs generally seem to have better gear ratios
which might favor some people.

Climbing advice from a downhill racer will be very exciting. Phihihih.
Give up right now, buddy.

I guess you're one of the best people to say anything meaningful on
this topic. So how about an essay on road bike vs. MTB on climbing
curves 28 through 39 at Nandi hills, curve-by-curve?

well ,
i remember all those curves on road and off-road,
was just wondering which ones to tell ,

road bikes are really sissy and the riders are the limit, ther consider the weight factor so much.
rushi point 1 : Weight and point 3 : weight ,  hehehe
imagine lance when buying "condom"     "hey , whats the weight of this thing , and how areodynamic  it is ?"  all he think's is how fast can i climb :-) sorry to be perve
