Hello, former LDS Literature students!
Since Mormon cinema was a
popular portion of our course last semester, I thought I would let you
all know about the course "Mormons and Film: The First Century" that I
will be teaching this semester (Winter 2008 - TMA 315R Section 023). This course, which meets weekly from 5-9:30pm on Thursdays, will mostly consist
of screenings of films from each of the five waves of Mormon cinema.
The syllabus (if you are interested) is up online at
http://burton.byu.edu/MormonCinema/ and a course poster can be found at
http://gideonburton.typepad.com/MormonFilm/MormonsAndFilmFlier.pdf.
Some
of you might also be interested in the LDS Film Festival coming up next
week (Jan 16-19) at the SCERA Theater in Orem. I spoke with the
festival director this week and there are some great offerings this
year--especially some of the short films. I think you'd really enjoy
it. Details and schedule at
http://www.ldsfilmfestival.org/08_schedule.php.
Hope you enjoyed the class last semester. Thanks!
