Grassroots Reconciliation after the Post-Election Violence in Kenya
a presentation by
Getry Agizah
Friends in Peace and Community Development
Friends Peace Centre • Lubao, Kenya

Sponsored by
Friends Peace Teams <http://friendspeaceteams.org>

When widespread violence broke out in Kenya after the disputed elections
last December, 27-year-old Friend Getry Agizah Anguva was at the center of
effort by Quakers and the wider AVP (Alternatives to Violence Project)
community to help people heal from trauma, restore communities, mediate
conflict, and build durable peace. She has been an integral part of
humanitarian and medical relief for those forced to flee their homes, trauma
relief work for people from all sides of the conflict, and mediation
activities, and she has coordinated AVP workshops reaching across divides of
tribe and ethnicity. What can their example teach us about peacemaking in
our communities?

Please come hear this amazing young woman working on the front lines of
peace activism.
