Friends,
I'm happy to bring you an update on Salem Quarterly Meeting's participation in the Boston GLBT Pride Parade on Saturday, June 13. We'll gather in the morning and march at noon.
FIRST OFF, a request for help: If you have one of those rainbow "PEACE" flags (e.g.
http://www.peaceproject.com/graphics/flags/RF1-2.gif) and would be willing to lend it to us for the weekend, please e-mail me.
SECONDLY, If you think you may join us in this witness/celebration/worship-with-attention-to-marching known as the Pride Parade, *
please e-mail me* at
jeff...@gmail.com or Judy Goldberger at
quake...@gmail.com, (even if you've told us verbally). You may also call me at
617-642-8478 or Judy at
857-719-4057. It would be most helpful to have an idea of how many people will be attending. I've heard a few families might be coming. That's great! Also, Judy and I will have our cell phones with us that morning.
We'll be marching with a banner that says "Boston Area Quakers: Celebrating the Spirit of God in
All People." We are to arrive at
Tremont and Rutland in the South End between *10 and 11 am*—we'll get our specific time a few days beforehand. We start to march at noon, and will go just over 2 miles past the State House and up to Government Center. There's a festival at the end. You can take the green line back to the start afterwards. Depending on where we are in the march, it will take between 1.5 and 3 hours, but the company will be great! :)
See the
route map.WHAT TO BRING:
Water, sunscreen, more water, a festive spirit, festive props, are optional but encouraged.
HOW TO GET THERE:
By T, the Orange Line Mass Ave stop and the Prudential stop on the Green E Line are closest (4~6 blocks). 100 Clarendon Street is the closest garage; a number of garages are in the area.
Please contact us with any questions, and hold our witness in the Light.
With Love,
Jeff Hipp
