Hey Cyrena and any unclear BUGIs,

Yes, you do need to turn in a form. If you sign on the the googlegroup you can find the form labeled bugi contract. Fill it out with your name, garden, your upper or lower div status (60 units is the cutoff) and how many units you want, you can sign it electronically and email it back to Amy and me. Once we receive the completed form
Not sure what garden you want to work with? The ecology center website has a directory of community gardens. here is a link: http://www.ecologycenter.org/bcgc/ . You can pick from these gardens, or if you know one that is not listed, that is possible also. People's park is looking for an intern. The Gill tract is located on San Pablo near REI or Gilman, and is an awesome tract of research land that a biking intern could cultivate to grow food on, they would be working with little supervision, so if practical farming is what you;re into, this might fit. Or, tell us what you're interested in or where you're located and Amy and I can help you find the right one.
You can get set up by contacting the garden coordinator and telling them you want to volunteer, for 3 hours per unit per week. It is also possible to have an internship with the Student Organic Garden. There are opportunities for web development, outreach and organizing, event planning, seed saving and distributing, drawing or using desktop publishing software, screen printing, blogging, guerilla gardening, permaculture, etc.

Remember to keep your activity log!! If you haven't got set up with your community garden yet, trying to get in contact with the supervisor counts as work for this week.  You can also read up on community gardens in the Bay and check out websites to familiarize yourself with horticulture, composting, plant propagation, seed saving, environmental education, food justice and community food security, etc. An awesome website with many links is that of our sister organization: the Society for Agriculture and Food Ecology (SAFE) agrariana.org, and the ecology center's website.

Be well,
Anders

P.S. Also on the ecology center website I found a cool event: Anyone want to go?
