Subject: break in 600 block Lakeland
In the 600 block of Lakeland at about 7:00 a.m. this morning a black male and black female came to the door of an apartment and started banging on the door and then started attempting to kick the door in. Normally that complex is empty during the day except for this tenant. But this tenant’s car was not parked in the lot as normal which would suggest he was not home. He was and they woke him up scaring him. He came to the door and looked out and saw who it was but did not know them and ultimately had to attempt to block them forcing their way in my pushing back against the door. They appeared to be highly agitated walked back in forth in the front of his door (and 4 others) while attempting to kick in the door. By chance a neighbor who leaves for work after this time was home and she looked out and saw what was going on. The door was metal but they were successful in pushing in the locking mechanisms which is currently being repaired as I write this. The police were called. It took them about five minutes and the two people left right before the police arrived.
Cameras are going up at that complex tomorrow morning.
The locksmith told me that this is the third lock he has repaired today with home invasions DURING THE DAY. In one instance a lady came home to the guy in the house and he jumped through a window cutting himself. They got DNA on that one.
