Hello everyone,
The University of Toronto Friends of Wisdom are convening a (usually) monthly seminar devoted to discussing what our global problems are and how they are to be solved. Everyone in the university community is invited to attend and participate.
To see the inspiration for this seminar, read page 324 of this book and read this short list of what needs to change for starters.
A reading group focused on wisdom (and related topics) is also being convened. Initial readings are referenced on knowledgetowisdom.org , http://www.nick-maxwell.demon.co.uk , http://philpapers.org/profile/17092 , http://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends-of-Wisdom/355734991141941 .
Locations for these events are TBD. Suggestions are welcome.
Please fill out this availability poll to help optimize scheduling. (The poll only includes times that I can be available this term; time slots will be edited next year).
Several organizations are Cc'd on this email because they sprang to mind as possibly being interested in (co-)presenting, supporting, or otherwise being affiliated with the reading group or the seminar.
Feel free to forward this to anyone who might be interested. The more publicity the better. The hope is that other universities will follow suit in holding such seminars.
