a request on caste-based surnames

Dear all,

Since beginning, the Mission has believed in caste-free society, a society free from all forms of caste-identity and caste- consciousness. Our constitution has made a rule which disallows use of caste-based surnames in names, email and any other identity while communicating within or on behalf of the Mission.

The rationale for this is: while we respect the members' personal freedom to accept fully or partly our caste-free vision, but as an organization, we will remain fully committed to caste-free vision.

So, whether our members remove caste-based surnames or not in their personal lives, but during communication within or on behalf of the Mission, like on yahoo-group, data-base, media-report, website etc., the Mission clearly disallows use of caste-based surnames.

Doing so for surnames in name is quite simple. The only tricky situation is: use of such surnames in email-id.

How to drop caste-based titles from email-id:

1. Make a new email-id which is free from caste-based title.
2. Import contacts (which is basically a data-base of all email-ids from which you got email) from old email-id to new email-id. Please search internet or ask friends about importing contacts.
3. Put up an automatic vacation setting with something similar to this: 
• Dear friend,
• To contribute my bit to a caste-free society, a society free from all forms of caste-identity and caste-consciousness, I have dropped use of caste-based surnames in my name, email-id and have pledged never to give such caste-based surnames to my children. Since this email-id has caste-based surname, I don't check this email-id now.
• So, please resend your mail to my new address x...@abc.com.
• Caste-free society is a society which is free from all forms of caste-identity and caste-consciousness. A morally and spiritually developed society is always based on innate oneness of entire mankind and hence we can make India a morally and spiritually developed country only after freeing her from the cancer of inhuman, ugly, spiritually dull and morally depraved caste-system. Hence, I request you to do the same thing if your name & email-id has caste-titles.

4. It is important to put up such a bold and confident statement as described in above point. This will motivate and inspire many more to do the same thing and spread awareness about caste-free vision. So, please overcome your diffidence and shyness and put forth such a clear, bold vacation setting.
   
5. You may automatically forward mail in some mail-server like gmail to your new caste-free email-address. In any case, your vacation-setting will make people resend the mail to your new caste-free email-address.

So, if any of you use such caste-based surname, kindly remove it in the mail while emailing to any group of BM & if possible change the email-id using above steps.
