The Bangalore Chapter celebrated the Independence Day in Emmanuel day care
center, which is the center of many of the activities of the chapter for more than a year.
The National flag was unfurled at 8:30 a.m. by Mr. Sounderraj, the person behind the
Emmanuel initiative, in the presence of members of Bharat Uday Mission and the public who
had gathered at the venue in advance.

Srivathsa spoke about the history, ideals and vision of BM in Kannada. The same was
spoken by Santosh in English, with much more effect as the target audience for this was
greater in number. He emphasized that the cause and organization are both important.

Later Santosh and Srivathsa briefed all about the various activities being carried out by the
Bangalore Chapter. The important ones are:

• Mission Soochna shakthi - workshop on RTI was conducted successfully in the area
of Bommanahalli with nearly 15+ women coming forward to file applications for the
benefit of their locality.
• The Chapter is supporting the full education of about 25 economically challenged
children, amounting to nearly Rs. 50,000.
• The successful educational survey of the area of Bommanahalli area where the
literacy rate amongst the kids was 99.9%.
• Provided vocational training (making paper bags) and arranging for self-employment
(Bhumi-Indus foods) to women of a self help group (SHG).
• Joined the other chapters in protesting the Nandigram killings and espresssed the
necessity to solve the SEZ issue by doing justice to all concerned.

A meeting was held at the day care center after the flag hoisting.
The Chapter had organised awareness campaigns in 2 schools on the National Flag
under the project banner "Mission Dhwaj Samman". The teachers supported us in the cause,
by explaining the children about the idea in their innovative ways. (Experience matters!!!!).
As part of this project, Khadi flags were distributed to the children in the schools.

Apart from this the members of the chapter had also been on an extensive
propagation of the "Mission Dhwaja Samman", by distributing pamphlets in the KSRTC bus
stand, Gandhinagar private bus stand, BTM layout and Bommanahalli and also by placing
them in newspapers in the area of Jayanagar.

The entire campaign and programme was a great experience and had many lesson for
the members of the Bangalore Chapter. We also developed several new contacts during the
campaign.

We reached the school at 8 am, just in time for the flag hoisting.

The flag hoisting was at the hands of shri. shripad k., senior most BM Nashik member.

It was followed by some songs presented by the students of the school. Next, awards were presented to students who performed well in the std. 10th board exams.

Aditya G then gave a brief intro about the activities of Bharat Uday Mission. The audience consisted of mainly the students, the staff, the members of the society which manages the school and the locals.

Shri Shripad K then gave a few words of encouragement to the students.

It was followed by the main program to be conducted by us.

Breakfast was followed by a short intro to the movie by Shailendra R.

We screened the movie "Dahawi F" (Standard 10, F Division) for the students of Std. X, staff and society members.

In short about the movie:
In many schools, the divisions are made as per the supposed IQ level of the students. Students of "F" division are supposed to be the most notorious amongst all. It relates to the "Pygmalion" concept in Management. "A person will try to act as is expected from him from the society. If we keep saying that a person X is smart, then he will try to live upto that expectation. And if we keep saying that a person Y is stupid, he will have that "forget it, who gives a damn" kind of an attitude."
The moral is that all commit mistakes, but we need to accept what mistakes we committed and to rectify them. It also says, that there is more to education than just scoring good marks in exams.

The movie was loved by one and all.

The students and the staff then presented their learnings from the movie. They also thanked the BM members for sparing time and conducting this activity. All the BM members were felicitated by the management.

It was followed by a discussion between members of BM and the society as to what problems the school faces, and how we can have further joint activities to tackle the problems.

It was indeed a great experience, and one of the most successful activities of BM Nashik, and we look forward to a long term association with the school.

A meeting will be scheduled soon to discuss the positives and shortcomings in this activity, and how such activities can be made more fruitful. Details will be mailed shortly.

Looking forward to more and more participation from all the BM members, and more such activities!

Jai Hind!

5. BM BELGAUM
MISSION DHWAJA SAMMAN AT SAMATA CONVENT SCHOOL, KANABARGI BELGAUM
BM Belgaum took active participation in the MISSION DHWAJA SAMMAN as part of the national activity.   Pocket flags were distributed to all the students teachers and people present there. Plastic flags were taken away from the students since plastic flags are not to be used. We got a healthy response from the samata convent school in this activity. Students were requested not to carry pocket flags from then onwards, as it will be an insult to our flag. The school is located six kms away from Belgaum city in a place called kanabargi.
The flag was unfurled by chairman of the school Mr. Bagewadi. Many patriotic songs were sung by children .Later we distributed the pamphlets to everyone present at the place.

Later Mr. Bagewadi in his speech thanked BHARAT UDAY MISSION members for their efforts in spreading awareness about our national flag in this activity. He expressed concern about the carelessness of people of BHARAT towards national flag, national anthem and our national integrity. He felt it was unfortunate situation that they did not take up the task of creating awareness about the FLAG CODE and its importance and thanked BHARATUDAYMISSION for doing their part of job in the activity. He assured us that the flags distributed by us will be kept intact and students will come along with the flags on AUGUST 15 next year. He requested us to make elderly people aware of our national flag since they were careless and ignorant and not the children

Sandeep ji explained the Flag code importance of the flag and how we should respect it. He requested everyone to maintain the flags with full respect. Later he also introduced BHARAT UDAY MISSION to the people. He explained our visions and ideologies.

We were invited for Tiffin with Chairman Mr. Bagewadi. He had a cordial meeting with BM Belgaum members. We discussed about the duties of Indian citizens towards our country, our national anthem and the flag.  . Five member team was involved in this activity. They were Amit K, Chetan G, Sandeep R, Sanjay H and Subhash Y. We concluded the activity by thanking him for all the support and overwhelming response we got.
