Lokayat is organizing a film festival in memory of the
thousands of victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy
and the many Bhopals which have been taking place in the country even
after this world's biggest industrial disaster.
The films focus on the sequence of events leading to the Bhopal
Gas
Tragedy in
1984 and its aftermath, and innumerable environmental disasters that
have been taking place in country in recent times. Details of films are
as follows:
- Secrets
and Lies (Hindi), 56 Min.
Directed by: Stavros Stagos. This film explores how the gas tragedy
continues to effect people even today and the Indian and US
government’s
coverup of the whole affair
- Miles
to go (English), 40 Min. Directed by Nina
Subramani. This film is a travelogue to the many places all
over the country where environmental destruction continues to take
place.
- Hush
Baby (5 Min): A short film on the struggle of Bhopali children
for justice
- Flames, Not Flowers (5 min): A music video on the
struggle of
women of Bhopal
The films will be followed by an open discussion. Entry free.
