On behalf of the Allahabad chapter of Bharatuday Mission, we are sending the meeting minutes of the third meeting held at the MCC ground of Allahabad University at 5:00 pm on 17th of May, 2006.
Members present were (names in no particular order):
Mr. Rajarshri Tiwari
Mr. Akhil Srivastava
Mr. Shashank Shekhar Singh
Mr. Vaibhav Rastogi *
(* new members)
Topics of discussion:
1) Distribution of work:
Various persons have been allocated different type of work, apart from the ground work. So, the members can perform their job more smoothly and the workload becomes manageable.
The distribution is as follows:
i) Co-ordinator - Mr. Akhil Srivastava.
ii) Treasurer - Mr. Pulak Kumar.
iii) Web design and techincal support - Mr. Vaibhav Rastogi.
The ground work activity management has been not discussed. So any one interested in it do come forward.
The ownership of the group is to remain with Mr. Rajarshri Tiwari.
2) Primary and secondary members:
We propose that the members be divided into 2 categories namely - primary members and secondary members. The primary members will be the ones who take active part in the activities of BM whereas, the secondary members are those who do not participate actively but, they help us to increase the reach of BM and may help in whatever way they want to.
3) Monthly fees:
We have decided that we will be collecting a sum Rs. 150 pm from the primary members. The amount was agreed upon by the members present at the meeting. This is amount is not rigid and can be changed if there is any disagreement. The secondary members will not be obliged to pay and they can pay anything as per their wish. The amount is to be used in the various activities that are to be undertaken by BM Allahabad chapter.
4) Induction of more female members:
It was discussed at the meeting that our female friends have shown a little inertia in joining BM, so we will be trying to get more females into our group. This will have a multifold effect on us. It will lend us more credibility and also we can also work with many NGO's like SAHIL, which work for women only. More active participation by women will help us in having a broader perspective of the problems concerning society.
5) Establishing contacts with NGO's:
It was also discussed that we contact the various NGO's that operate in Allahabad. This will enable us to forge a better understanding of the social work that is to be done. BM can also work with the NGO's to achieve its objective of social service to the society.
6) Propagation of BM:
We also discussed the propagation of BM. We will print pamphlets and each member will be in charge of spreading BM in his/her institution. We have also planned many activities that will help students get acquainted with BM. These will be put into action once the new academic term starts in July.
7) Literacy program:
A literacy program has been planned, in which we will be teaching children and adults of Jhalwa, an underdeveloped part on the outskirts of the city. The classes will be held daily and it will be a long term project.
8) We emphasized on group leadership. Patronizing the organization will be flayed and will not be accepted inside BM framework. No senior-junior concept lies as such and we highly believe in the policy of working together.
9) We have also expected support from central team and other well established chapters in organizing ground activities and their active support throughout.
The next meeting will be held by the end of May or the beginning of June.
Jai Hind!

A CALL FOR UNITY………….A CALL FOR SOLIDARITY.
"
This is a message for all those who are anti-reservation and who want to show solidarity to Medical Students and doctors across India.
After 100 hours of hunger strike in AIIMS, many medical students have collapsed but the government has prohibited the media from covering this story. You have already seen on TV the brutal treatment of students by the Police.
It's high time that we all get together and do something. The new reservation will affect us as much as it will to any of the medical institutes. Let us all join the movement and make it more representative.
Lets
us all take our protest on the streets this Saturday. Let's join all of
us in the protest and make the effort stronger. We can also protest
against the proposal of reservation in Corporate Sector, which is in
pipeline, as well.
Please send this message to all of your friends.
We are in contact with many organizations and I have composed this message by taking inputs from all. Hence this message is from all of them.

This is May 2006, 150 years after May 1857...
It's the 2nd War of Independence
Finally today the Nashik chapter has started off with the
activities. Today 12 of us participated in the polio eradication drive.
Participants:
1. Tushar Godbole
2. Yashpal Gogate
3. Aditya Gogate
4. Upendra Vaidya
5. Manish Deshpande
6. Abhilasha Ahire
7. Purva Ahire
8. Vasundhara Kairnar
9. Himanshu Matsye
10. Anshul Pancholi
11. Radhika Gupte
12. Vishvesh Gilda
The task:
We were assigned the task of manning 4 different booths under the
Panchavati area, as there was an acute shortage of manpower. We managed
to give drops to more than 650 children in our booths. All of us were
at the assigned booths at 8 am, and almost all of us were there
throughout the day till 5pm when the booths closed. Special mention
must be made of abhilasha and purva who managed a booth in the absence
of even a single health worker. Yashpal, along with Tushar did a great
job of coordinating with the health authorities. The rest of the
members also did a great job, especially at a time when there was a
shortage of health workers due to the marriage season. It was really
great that 12 people turned up, when we were actually expecting only 4
people (according to the minutes of the last meeting). Thus, this
became a major chapter activity with most active members participating.
We have unanimously decided (along with CPT ) that we will have media
coverage of this activity. So we will be using our links in the
newspapers to highlight this activity of ours along with the phone nos.
of a few members for propagation purpose.
Hi,
Wonderful job again !!.
Volunteers have set an example yet again by making
this activity a huge success. Hats-off for their
efforts .They have added another feather in
BM'cap. They made this activity look very easy. This
activity looks fairly simple on paper but in reality
it is a tough job because people were not aware about
the polio the drive, many don't go to the booth also,
this is not in the case of remote places but also in
areas where there are polio booths which are setup and
have an awareness campaign also.
Following is the list of volunteers how carried this
activity.
Team A
1.Priyanka Mehta
2.Santosh Kolte
3.Punit Shiknis
4.Mangesh Edke
5.Prafulla Mankar
6.Balaji C

16. Prashant Kagawade
17. Pratik Khadloya
18. Abhijeet Rajwade
Volunteers assembled at City Pride,Satara
Road, at 7.30 am.
Dr Dighe (Government Medical Officer) provided Polio
Vaccines and Vaccine Carrier. The objective of the
Polio Drive was the same as the drive which was done
on 9th April .It was to cover houses of laborers,
wagers, Construction sites, migrants, Street Hawkers
community etc. which remain uncovered due to lack of
records on the local government database. Volunteers
were grouped in two teams to carry this activity.
We were a bit anxious at the start because we thought
no one would entertain us, this proved to be wrong as
people living in these remote areas gave us full
support in what we were doing.
This was the first time our team wore the BM T-shirt
for the purpose of propagation.
The areas of Pune that were covered are
1. Mitra Mandal Canal side slums
2. Treasure park and the nearby area,Sahakarnagar
3. Walawekar Nagar and nearby area
4. Panchawati Construction,
5. Ambedkar Vasahat
6. Padmavati Nagar remote areas
7. Katraj Slums
8. KK Market Canal Slums
9. Lake town Construction and near by construction
site
10. Wonder City Area Ambegaon
The total number of children vaccinated by our
volunteers is 472!!(This amount is a huge amount
considering the areas which were covered.)
Thanks a lot volunteers for carrying out this activity
with excellence.
This activity was a grand Success, and I hope that we
succeed similarly in all the activities we carry out.
What we learned from this activity:-
People come ahead if we are doing any social activity.
Other areas which need attention :
While we were vaccinating the children we have found
out that the children in the construction need some
special attention, may it be health wise(many children
seemed to have some kind of infection ) ,economic
support by education and also financial support.
Regards
Rohan
