Films to be screened:
1. Beyond Women's Stereotypes
Director: Bindu Nair Duration: 30 mins
Synopsis: Film exposes stereotypical images of women on Indian television by juxtaposing them against lived realities.
2. Laying Janaki to Rest
Director: Madhureeta Anand Duration: 30 mins
Synopsis: Explores the symbolic relationship of Seeta, a goddess from the epic Ramayana, with the images of women in India
3. She's My Girl
Director: Meera Dewan Duration: 30 min
Synopsis: Haryana has one of the lowest sex ratios in the country. A group of actors, writers, singers and activists come together to perform community theatre and travel through Haryana to motivate people to value the girl child.
Hudood Ordinance
Director: Beena Sarwar Duration: 10 mins
Synopsis: On the Hudood ordinance in Pakistan, which punishes rape victims for adultery if they cannot prove rape.
The screenings would be followed by a discussion. Tea would be served in the break. Entry is free.
