Invitation to SEMINAR on Dangers of Nuclear EnergyLokayat organises SEMINAR on
LESSONS FROM THE FUKUSHIMA NUCLEAR ACCIDENT IN JAPAN
To reply to the speech by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, in the Maharashtra Assembly defending Nuclear Energy and the Jaitapur Nuclear Plant, Lokayat is organising a Seminar on the subject in which some of India's eminent anti-nuclear scientists will be speaking.
SPEAKERS:
1. Dr. Surendra Gadekar, world renowned anti-nuclear scientist.
2. Dr. Vishnu Kamath, Professor, Bangalore University.
3. Neeraj Jain, convenor Lokayat and Electrical Engineer.
The seminar will be followed by a question and answer session. This is important. Dr. Kakodkar did not take any questions in the Maharashtra Assembly, or probably no one asked. A few days later, Dr. Kakodkar spoke defending nuclear energy in Pune, but he refused to take any questions, and only after much protests did he take only three questions, and no more. This is typical of India's atomic energy establshment which in the name of National Security refuses to discuss the safety issues associated with nuclear energy. We invite the supporters of nuclear energy to come and debate their views with us.
Date: April 16, Saturday
