In the past three months as a member of the Central Administrative Team, I have worked closely with some individuals who have over time accused me of many things from trying to gain "personal glory" to thirsting for power. The apologies that two of them made afterwards are inconsequential. As a part of the decision-making authority in the present structure of Bharat Uday Mission, the least I deserved was respect and trust, neither of which I believe I have got.If I was trying to make Hyderabad the power center as some members fear or if I was in this for personal glory, I would have stood for President in the recently conducted elections for Bhumi, Hyderabad Chapter, which I did not.The Elections were conducted so as to ensure that everyone had an equal opportunity to represent the Hyderabad chapter and take our vision forward, unlike in the Central Teams where things are quite autocratic. For more details about the By Laws that we have used, please mail me (divyashr...@gmail.com ). You will notice that it is a democratic setup and everyone is accountable and no individual is above the organization. When I raised a question regarding why the entire teams' names, chapter details, email addresses and phone numbers are not put up on the website, it was again misconstrued as a move to glorify my name, instead of looking at it as a way for every member to be able to gain access to their respective chapter member on the Central Teams. There are other incidents where certain individuals have acted on behalf of the Administrative Team and I've had to face the consequences because of them. It is quite embarrassing to read so many mails against a team that I represent. All these concerns brought me to float the idea of having an urgent meeting of all the Central Team members, in light of a few recent mismanaged events. 3 of them showed no interest or urgency to resolve issues by discussing them one-on-one. It is quite obvious that these problems will remain unsolved till there is a personal meeting of sorts and until all apprehensions are put forward so that we can deal with these issues in the best possible manner. It is also essential that any Constitution or policies that are drafted should take into consideration the views of all Chapter Coordinators who are the ones working at the grassroot level and have a clearer understanding than those who sit on their computers trying to frame policies based on other existing political organizations' ideas. We know very well that there are deficiencies in the existing set up that come in the way of fulfilling our vision. We are plagued with needless controversies and have very little ground work to demonstrate to the nation our ability to change the destiny of our country. It is the ideology of the organization that has brought us together and hence it is our duty to protect it and nurture it.These matters lead me to invite 3 members(2 from Bangalore and 1 from Pune) who have been instrumental in making their respective chapters very active in terms of projects taken up and membership. I invited them to Hyderabad over a weekend(30th of April and 1st of May) to come and see the different initiatives that we'd undertaken and practically see the organizational structure that has allowed us to work in a completely cooperative fashion and as a cohesive unit.Just to give you a brief idea, in a matter of 4 months, we have grown from 32 members to 348 members(as on 14th May 2006). We have 4 ongoing projects and two more ambitious projects where we have started on the basic research. Please mail me divyashr...@gmail.com for more details about them.We had an extensive discussion of the Bylaws of Hyderabad chapter. At the outset it must be said that the bylaws are not yet finalized, it is a working copy that needs refining and Hyderabad chapter is open to suggestions. But the basic frame work of Hyderabad chapter takes the best of the existing national structure and redefines it in a manner that facilitates our graduation to a full time ground work organization. The discussions then culminated with a presentation of a proposed national structure and the need to prioritize activities. We felt there are many members in the central team who are inactive and yet define the direction for this organization which is unfair to those who actively work for this organization in the field. We need an organizational design that encourages only the conscientious and the competent to define the direction for the organization.
We unanimously feel the need to revamp the existing set up as the present set up gives inactive and ill meaning members an opportunity to play havoc with the system and disrupts work that has been painstakingly put in by active members. To take such a giant leap, we need an appropriate forum that has a national consensus of sorts. It was felt that a national convention would be an appropriate forum to make that leap to a dynamic organization that facilitates ground work. Before we get to the convention the present national structure needs to discuss various suggestions from active members so that the best foundations could be laid for the future of this organization. However to do so in an open forum will only help the inactive and the ill meaning to disrupt the process.
We proposed the formulation of a special task team that comprises the existing national team members, all the chapter coordinators and a few members from various chapters who have actively thought in this direction and may be in a position to make meaningful contribution to our discussions. The convention will then be a forum to implement the revamped structure.
Until such a structure is in place, I will find it highly impossible to join forces with the present Team that I am supposed to work with. I have mentioned the reasons above and I truly believe that we cannot take the organization to it's rightful destiny if things go on in the way they are presently. The hastily written mail about the Constitution Drafting process which was sent, seemed to me as a means to pacify a few of us who have been vehemently voicing our opinions about the present structure. The mail was hardly discussed and there are many questions that are plaguing my mind about the practicality of the drafting procedure. When I raised my concern regarding this, I was, unsurprisingly and unceremoniously, told to "read" the document before replying and was also indirectly threatened about taking disciplinary action against me.I've put forward all my concerns and I would like to put in my resignation as this goes against the unwritten code of conduct that is expected of members at the moment. I am sure there will be arguments against everything I've said above and also many more allegations of a personal nature. I am ready for it and also to face any kind of disciplinary action taken against me due to this mail.I invite ALL interested members to visit Hyderabad on June 10th and 11th to see our chapter members in action. Accommodation and food will be taken care of by us.If you've read through this far, I thank you for your time.Regards,Divyashri
