Many important issues were lined up for the meeting. Detailed discussions and brainstorming occurred for nearly 3 hours. The EC is coming out with many programmes to give a mega boost to BM-Bangalore by transforming the Vision and Milestones to be achieved into reality. The summary of the proceedings is given below:
Zero Hour
Ø Human Chain preparations: It had been communicated to Power of Youth, the organizers of the Chain, that BM-Bangalore supports the cause of fighting against Reservation. However it was decided by the EC not to back the plan of protesting on the Independence Day, as proposed by the organizers.
Ø Continued absence of Members: The EC took serious note of Members absenting themselves at the meetings. It was decided to proceed in all such cases as per the Constitution.
Ø Committee compositions: The Chairmen of Various permanent committees of the Chapter have called for membership / participation in the works of their respective committees. The composition of these committees will be notified during the next week.
Ø Mail moderation team formation: It was decided that a Mail Management Body (MMB) of 3 under the leadership of Shri C. Muruganandan would be constituted for moderating the mails of the Yahoo Group of the Chapter. Members willing to be part of the committee should write to Shri Muruganandan at the earliest.
Ø BM Constitution Info: The meeting was informed that the representative of the Chapter, Shri Santosh P. Nargund polled the second highest number of votes in an election in the BM Constituent Assembly, and hence has been made the Co-convener of the Drafting Committee. Any suggestions from Chapter members to the BM Constitution may be channelised through Shri Santosh.
Ø Celebration of Independence Day: It was decided to celebrate this Independence Day at the Office of BM-Bangalore on a big scale. Shri Rajesh D. has been made the Coordinator for drawing up an impressive plan for the event. It was noted that the Bangalore Chapter would perhaps be the first Chapter to celebrate the I-Day at its 'permanent' Office. It was also decided to sponsor a lunch to the inmates of the Bharatiya Grameen Mahila Sangh (BGMS) (about 200 children and destitute women). Shri A. Baburaj would coordinate for this event. About Rs. 3000-4000 would be required for the sponsored lunch and about Rs. 1000-2000 would be required for the I-Day celebrations (including cost of Flag, pole, publicity material, etc). Members / supporters who would like to contribute in cash, kind or through their services for this programme should contact Shri Rajesh D. and Shri Baburaj.
Ø Contacting Shri Venkatachala (former Karnataka Lokayukta): It was brought to the notice of the EC, that Shri Venkatachala has retired recently as Karnataka Lokayukta. He was very proactive during his tenure and was responsible for exposing numerous corrupt state govt. officials. Shri A. Baburaj would try to contact Shri Venkatachala and seek his association with BM and his guidance in various activities that may suit him.
Ø Ambulance Donation Project: Shri A. Baburaj felt that the preliminaries for the Ambulance donation project should be initiated soon because it may take quite some time to collect the required funds. Shri Baburaj would do a preliminary survey of probable Hospitals / Agencies for the project and report to the EC.
Ø Proposed Merging of Resurgent India with BM: The EC was informed that Resurgent India (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/resurgentindia) a organisation with goals similar to BM had expressed interest in merging itself into BM for strengthening the cause of making a better India. The EC welcomed the move and remarked that this should act as a trend setter for networking all like-minded organisations.
Ø Meeting in the Office: It was decided in the previous meeting that one meeting in a month would be held in the Office of the Chapter. It was decided in this meeting that second meeting of every month would be held in the Office. As a corollary to this decision the next meeting would be held in the Office and not in Cubbon Park.
Ø Change in the Time of Meeting of the EC: The EC meetings invariably continue for 3.5 to 4 hours. Hence it was decided that the EC would from now on meet at 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
Ø Return of Registration Forms: The Secretary noted that many Members had not returned the filled Registration forms.
Propaganda Cell (PC)
Ø Plan for mega membership drive on ground: Roadmap & Action Plan for this to be prepared preferably by next meeting.
Ø Pamphlet Draft: A draft of the pamphlet was presented to the EC. Members made suggestions. The PC would present a final draft of the same in the next meeting.
Ø BM T-Shirt & Cap Draft: The draft of the T-shirt & Cap was discussed. Members made suggestions. The PC would present a final draft of the same in the next meeting.
Ø Knowledge Notes Series: Shri Baburaj presented the pamphlets and journals of 'Naujawan Bharat Sabha' (founded by Bhagat Singh), which is active in northern states. Members felt that such impressive and informative pamphlets on various current issues should be brought out by BM as well. It was felt that the Chapter should bring out a Knowledge Notes Series of 1-2 pages regularly with educative notes / articles by eminent persons and experts on various current issues. Shri Muruganandan to follow up.
Projects & Activities Cell (PAC)
Ø Electronics city initiative to develop villages: Shri Suraj B.C to find the details and office location.
Ø Emanuel Projects:
Rations for one month worth Rs. 1500 would be procured to be handed
over to the Emanuel Day Care Centre (EDCC) (Action: Shri Rajesh D.
& Shri C. Muruganandan).
Shri Rajesh Kumar A.T. in the PAC would coordinate the Education
Aid (books, fees, etc.) project in EDCC. The Secretary suggested that
the handing over of the Aid and Rations be done in the presence of some
members of BM. It was accepted by the PAC and it will notify the date.
Ø Participating in the Youth Leadership Meet of Suhas Gopinath, CEO & President of Globals Inc. , to be organised in Bangalore: Shri Muruganandan informed the EC that the event would be held in September and that he had received a reply from the organizers. However the details are awaited.
Ø Organising workshop / seminar on the Right to Information (RTI) Act: Shri Muruganandan is in touch with experts in the field. Shri Phanikiran provided him with some leads. The EC felt that this project should be executed at the earliest.
Ø Helping the women of a Self Help Group: Shri Rajesh D. informed that the women would complete their training in different trades like handicrafts, candle making, paapad and agarbathi making, etc by July 15 th. BM could help the women in marketing the products. Shri Rajesh would come up with the details. Shri Amit Pandey would also coordinate this project.
Finance Cell (FC)
Ø Bank account for Deposition of money from any part of the globe: The meeting was informed that a Current A/c would be suitable for the kind of transactions that would be made by BM. Any bank like ICICI or SBI would more or less suit the requirements of BM. However, to open a Bank Account details like Registration of BM, PAN Number, etc. are required. As the Constitution of BM is being drafted and the registration at the National level is hoped to be done in about 2-3 months, it was decided that the present way of maintaining the funds with Shri Amit Pandey's account should be continued.
Ø Subscription fees: The FC noted that many Members and Associate Members have not paid their monthly subscription fees.
Research, Development & Training Cell (RDTC)
Ø Skill set form collection: As the process of automating the process would take about one month (as informed by Shri Krishna Bhat), it was decided to go ahead with the existing procedure till the software is available. Any Member / supporter willing to take up the job of developing the software for this may contact Shri Muruganandan
Ø Chapter's Opinion on the Reservation issue: The RDTC is working on this and a draft document would be presented to the EC during the next week. The final document is expected to be released before the next meeting.
Ø Info/ study on the demography of local constituencies / wards in the city: The RDTC has initiated work on this.
Secretary's Note:
1. The next meeting will be held at the Office. The time would be notified during the week. The map to reach the office will be uploaded to the Files section of the Yahoo Group.
2. All queries and suggestions to be directed to the undersigned.

We have always maintained that sustainable difference in the quality of service extended at OGH is only possible when the critical stakeholders are engaged in a long term plan. We propose a sanitation committee comprising BHUMI, APJUDA and Class IV employees be formed for regular maintenance and upkeep of the hospital. It is also important to empower this committee in taking to task all those who are seen littering the hospital premises, simple measures such as a fine of Rs. 200 or Shram Daan of 1 hr should prove effective in improving the sanitation conditions of the hospital.
We also wish to engage the Class IV employees through career counseling and education sessions for their children and Livelihood generation programs for the spouses of Class IV employees as a part of its vision to transform OGH into a hospital that delivers superior health care to the thousands of poor who throng this hospital at all hours.
