Subject: Elections to National Executive: Rules, Guidelines and Information

Polling has begun for 3 responsibilities in the National Executive

-          General Secretary

-          Joint Secretary Propagation

-          Joint Secretary Information

Poll will end after 11PM 30th July, 2007.

Polls created with names in order of receipt of Application, and then from order in list compiled at National Convention

# after the name indicates application sent to NC when called

* after the name indicates showed willingness at National meet but no application received

This is to enable easy identification of candidates for whom complete information is available in the format requested.

To be eligible to be elected, the member should

1. have attained 21 years of age

2. be a graduate or a student pursuing graduate studies.

3. be an active member and a member of the chapter for at least one year.

4. not have occupied the same post for more than two full terms in the last three

years.

5. not have resigned from any position in the National/State level organisation midterm

in the past 3 years, except, to take up a responsibility for another

constituent of the mission or due to change of state of residence.

-          National Council Members are only eligible to vote

-          NC members have to vote only for those who fulfil the eligibility criteria according to the information available to them.

-          If none of the candidates fail to gain a simple majority, a Run-off election will be used to determine the winner among the two candidates who received the most votes. Run-off Election is a voting system used to elect a single winner. Under runoff voting, the voter simply casts a single vote for her or his favourite candidate. However, if no candidate receives a simple majority of votes, then all candidates, except the two with the most votes, are eliminated, and a second round of voting will be started immediately. Polling for 2nd round will end at 11pm 31st June 2007.

-          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-round_system

-          Results will be declared on 31st July 2007, and the appointments to the elected responsibilities take immediate effect.

-          All appeals should be sent to national...@bharatudaymission.org within 3 days of completion of election process.
