Happy Friday!
Online Education/ Quiz:
http://homestudy.ihea.com/index.htmBackground on Virginia Hunter Education Courses - basically the easiest way to do this for those of us in the District and lacking a vehicle, will be to take the online education course and quizzes (link above) and then register for an "Alternative Delivery" course (more info below) where you bring in your test scores and complete the written test and skill-based components.
The first available course is on March 21, 2010 from 12pm-5pm at Fort Belvior, Virginia. To pre-register, call Archery Center Staff at 703-805-3688. If we can all register than we could all drive out there, etc.
While March 21st seems far away, the online portion is pretty substantive and we need to find out the practical skills and get to the range to practice so this is actually a pretty realistic timeline. If you're interested in doing this as a group, let me know and we can start to get organized.
If I'm missing anything, please chime in! Thanks! Kim
Alternative Delivery Course
The
Virginia Hunter Education Alternative Delivery Course is composed of an
online portion, a written test, and a series of practical exercises
which must be completed by each student. After selecting an Alternative
Delivery course date from the list of Hunter Education courses, the
student should complete the online Hunter Education course at the International Hunter Education Association's Web site. Quiz results from each section must be printed and brought to the practical exercises. After completing the on-line
course, the student should study the Hunting & Trapping Regulations
section at the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Web site.
Questions from this section and the online course will be included on
the written test. The student should then register for an Alternative
Delivery course. Upon satisfactory completion of the test and the
practicals, the student will be awarded a certificate of Completion of

AllWelcome to the google group. As we move forward, I expect that this list serve will be the way to communicate. After this weeks meeting, there were a couple of things people seemed interested in moving forward with. First was trying to get a group together to do a hunter education course. Kim Hunter said she'd do some research, so Kim feel free to share anything you find through the google group. The others were to aggregate hunting laws for the area and identify some events for the future. Ill work on those, but if anyone has information feel free to share.
All the best,
Nick
