This Friday, February 15th, the Working Families Party is proud to be co-hosting a panel in NYC on policing and state violence featuring WFP National Director Maurice Mitchell and WFP-endorsed candidate for NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
The panel will be moderated by Monifa Bandele of Moms Rising, and panelists will also include co-founder of BLM Alicia Garza, Victoria Davis (the sister of Delrawn Small who was slain by an off-duty police officer in 2016), and trans rights activist Kristen Lovell. What does it actually look like to build power for and win transformational justice for our communities? How can we take incremental steps towards the revolutionary systems change we know we need? These leaders are all addressing these questions through different disciplines: movement building, politics, and municipal-level policy change.
After a panel, there will be a fundraiser in support of Jumaane Williams' race for Public Advocate — the number two position in NYC government. Jumaane has been the driver of police reform in the city council. Now it's time to elect Jumaane Williams for Public Advocate of NYC so he can bring transformative justice to our city.
Click here to reserve your tickets to #TransformJusticeNYC on Friday, February 15 at 6 PM in NYC. Space is limited and tickets are required.
Thanks and hope to see you there!
