As you all know the coming Promises Auction is to go towards the
squash fundraising this year. In the short term this will go towards
the court refurbishment. (Floor sanding, Tin painting, wall cleaning
and yes lines not to mention a dedicated boiler to drive the
radiators).

It takes place on Saturday November 1st beginning at 8pm. Tickets are
£5 and there will be food and entertainment.

Please pass this on to all friends inside and outside the club and
let’s try to generate a good turnout and make this a great evening.
You can reserve tickets through me or purchase at the club

Last time the Auction raised around £9000 which went to the tennis
improvements which the club benefits from. This time it's all for
squash so it would be really great of all squash people could get
behind this and support us.

Longer term we are saving money to collect sufficient funds to put
towards a glass show court or courts. How this is done is subject to
planning work we are putting together at the moment. One possible
scenario is to build glass courts at the end of the building and free
up existing courts to allow for a gym and aerobic facilities to be
built in a similar way to the "vision" in the squash response. There
may be better ways of doing this. The intention is to put several
scenarios together to get peoples creative juices flowing and to come
up with something really good.

The fundraising is the first step to achieving this. With the vision
and the funds we will be in a position to start applying for help from
the likes of the lottery, England Squash, the council, Sport for all
etc. This list goes on. Without a vision we cannot tell these people
what we are trying to do.

One mad idea we have had is that we get a working group including
relevant experts to do much of the work ourselves (we are still
looking for a bricklayer?). Ok this might be a bit wild - however?

As you see the fundraising in the short term is necessary and long
term can help move the club forward quite a bit.

Again, please pass this on and let’s try to generate a good response.

Mark
