Please share this announcement with any aspiring artists in your organization!

The 87th Annual McLean County Amateur Art Competition-Exhibition will be held March 2 through April 19, 2014 in the Brandt Gallery of the McLean County Arts Center.

For 87 years the McLean County Arts Association has been proud to host the longest running, annual, amateur art exhibition and competition in Illinois. Through this professionally juried competition, MCAC awards cash prizes to aspiring amateur artists in three age divisions, Adult, University Student, and High School Student, in the art categories of Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, and Photography & New Media. The juror selects approximately 100 works from over 200 entries for the exhibition, and awards a best in show, The Merwin Medal ($200), and 1st ($75) and 2nd ($50) place awards in each category for each age group.

Entry forms are available at the McLean County Arts Center, 601 N. East St. in downtown Bloomington or may be downloaded from the MCAC’s website, www.mcac.org.

Amateur artists are invited to submit up to two entries; there is a fee of $1.00 per entry.  The accepted media categories are Painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed), Graphics (prints, drawings, collage), Sculpture (includes functional craft and fine art in metal, wood, stone, clay, glass, fiber, and mixed), and Photography & New Media (black & white, color, and digital prints, and video and animation—must provide all necessary equipment.)

Artworks are to be delivered to the MCAC on Tuesday, February 18, Noon – 7pm and Wednesday, February 19, Noon – 5pm. Further information and details are listed on the attached entry form.

Thank you and please contact me if you have any questions.

Best,

Claire
