Hi Room 300 families,
In case you didn't make it to the BEX IV community meeting last night, I wanted to pass along a few items that will affect our students:
1. This is good news -- It looks like reopening Lincoln as a high school in 2018 is definitely on the table. It appears in all three versions of the plan and seems to have good support. No word on what the boundaries will be yet. Lincoln is in Wallingford, near the library.
2. There are no plans for addressing the capacity issues at Hamilton. It appears that they did not include APP when they counted the number of students expected to enroll. (Hamilton currently houses APP.) Given the capacity issues that John Stanford and north end APP elementary school are facing right now, we're looking at a pretty overcrowded middle school by the time our kids get to Hamilton.
Right now this is very much a work in progress. The school board will vote on a final version in October. Then in February, the BEX IV levy goes to the voters. Families are encouraged to offer feedback and ask questions. Here's the e-mail address: capa...@seattleschools.org
