THE BRITISH EMBASSY CHOIR TOKYO PRESENTS
“BUILDING BRIDGES OF SONG: CHORAL MUSIC FROM BRITAIN AND JAPAN”

6pm at Otsuma Hall (Otsuma Women’s University)
The concerts are part of the UK-Japan 2008 celebrating the 150th
anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UK and Japan, a year-
long season of exciting events, performances and exhibitions to
showcase the UK’s creativity in the arts, in science and innovation,
and in creative industries.
The choir will perform sacred selections by Finzi, Handel, Parry,
Poston, Purcell, Tavener and Vaughan Williams. They will also sing
folksongs from the British Isles in settings by Howard Goodall and
Percy Grainger as well as traditional Japanese songs and the premiere
of Tokyo composer Kenzaburo Ayabe’s Soul Infinity, composed especially
for the occasion.
Free admission with donations gratefully accepted. Donations collected
on 31 May will benefit the Myanmar Children’s Education Fund and the
Suicide Prevention Action Group NPO in Tokyo. On 7 June donations will
benefit the Kasumisou Foundation, a Tokyo-based NPO that supports
various charitable activities among disadvantaged people in Cambodia,
Myanmar and Thailand.

6月7日(土) 午後6時開演 大妻講堂（大妻女子大学）
この度BECは日英外交関係150周年を記念して開催されているUK-Japan 2008の一環として、日英両国の合唱音楽を紹介するコンサートを開
催致します。UK-Japan 2008は、一年間に亘って開催される様々なイベント・公演・美術展などを通じて、芸術・科学技術・クリエイティブ産業
の分野で創造性あふれる英国を紹介する催しです。
演奏曲目は、Finzi, Handel, Parry, Poston, Purcell, Tavener, Vaughan Williamsに
よる宗教曲の数々、Goodall, Grainger編曲による英国民謡と広く知られた日本のメロディー、そして特別委嘱作品、綾部健三郎作曲「魂
よ、永遠なれ」（初演）です。
入場は無料ですが、下記の各団体を支援するため、皆様のご寄付をお願い致します。
5/31: ミャンマー児童教育基金 及び NPO法人・自殺防止センター
6/7 : カスミソウファウンデーション（カンボジア等で様々な支援活動をするNPO団体）
