I don't usually send anything to this list that isn't strictly an event.  There are events listed below, but I also thought some of you might enjoy the briefing "Is CID the FIFA of dance?" (See Below.)

01.  Certified students
One number says it all: The number of students you have certified. It is the ultimate sign of trust from your dancers and proof that you elevate them to a recognized standard. A high number of certified students defines a successful teacher.

02.  The CID logo
can be used only after special permission by the CID Secretariat. It is protected by international copyright law. It cannot figure on any documents, other than the ones printed by the CID Secretariat.

235 Registered conferees (see list of names at the website) from 33 countries of the 5 continents. 86 Presentations, that is: 30 lecture demonstrations, 19 workshops, 37 performances. 8 University professors from 6 countries in the Scientific Committee. 15 CID Members worked as volunteers in the Congress Team.

BRIEFING

Is CID the FIFA of dance?

    In a way, Yes, they are the official global organizations of their respective fields. Both are strictly not-for-profit, and both are democratically managed by elected leadership.

However, in almost every other way, they differ tremendously.

1. Purpose

    FIFA is a strict governing body. It enforces the rules of soccer and controls their application. If a country fails to follow FIFA’s regulations, its teams are banned from international competition.
    CID is an umbrella organization founded within UNESCO. It brings together all dance genres (ballet, ballroom, belly dance, bachata, etc.) to promote dance as an art form and as a pillar of education. It does not regulate how dances are performed, taught, or choreographed.

2. Events

    FIFA directly runs and owns the rights to massive, highly lucrative tournaments, notably the FIFA World Cup.
    CID does not organize events. Instead, its members independently organize their own local events and festivals.

3. Finances

    FIFA’s budget is about 13 billion euros, earning massive revenue through broadcasting rights, corporate sponsorships, and ticket sales.
    CID operates on a minimal budget. It receives no money from sponsors, charges no commissions, and sells no products. Its sole income comes from modest member registration fees, and its elected officers receive zero salary.

4. Earnings

    The average football professional earns roughly 150,000 euros per year, while stars like Lionel Messi can earn upwards of 20 million.
    The average dance professional earns a modest 15,000 per year.

5. Audiences

    An average World Cup match draws 175 million viewers, while the World Cup final attracts an audience of 1.5 billion.
    An average local dance performance draws about 175 people.

6. Registration

    To play professionally, a player must be registered through a club connected to a FIFA-affiliated national federation.

    Anyone can dance or teach without CID registration. Instead, CID offers the International Certification of Dance Studies, which acts as a globally recognized credential to support student and professional mobility.

 
CONCLUSION

    If you want dance to prosper and reach the global stature of football, the dance community must abandon the “everyone for himself” mentality.

    You do not need to change the unique way you perform, teach, or compose your dances. Instead, you must coordinate your actions with fellow dance professionals.

    CID is here to help you organize at the city level by establishing local Sections. By structuring your classes and offering the International Certification to your students, we can elevate our art together.

    Dance is a serious discipline - it is time we start treating it like one.
