March has been a glorious month for creativity and renewed zest for artistic
energies, and Lark Traditional Arts is keeping the firelight burning for you. We hope to see you at any one of our upcoming events.
Virtual Lark (in February) was a fun-filled success. And we have some interesting ideas to build upon for next year. The community really came together and the workshops and jams were lively, instructive, and entertaining.
To everyone who joined us for the first time at Virtual Lark, welcome and thank
you—we look forward to seeing you again at future LTA events. And please, new and experienced Larkies, share our links and events on socials and with the performing artists and good folks in your life.

THE FREIGHT WEBSITE TO REGISTER:
Campers will be provided light snacks and beverages throughout the day, and
guardians should provide their campers with a lunch to sustain them (campers will not be permitted to leave the building for lunch).
If opting into aftercare, campers should bring activities such as books, tablets,
etc. Other aftercare activities can include a movie provided by The Freight, or an area to practice lessons learned during the day’s camp.
Educational and Cultural Benefits
-
Cross-cultural engagement: Students encounter diverse musical styles and movement traditions in a respectful and accurate format.
-
Accessibility: Both the harmonica and hand drum enables meaningful music-making without significant cost or prior experience. Music Camp will give
each camper a harmonica for free. Drums will be provided when possible, and The Freight x Lark Camp will let parents know if campers will need to bring additional drums.
-
Holistic learning: Combining music, rhythm, and dance deepens comprehension, creativity, and personal expression.
-
Community building: Daily collaborative instruction fosters teamwork, empathy, and shared artistic experiences.
-
Artistic stewardship: The program aligns with Lark Camp and The Freight’s commitment to preserving, teaching, and honoring traditional art forms.
Additional Benefits
-
Campers will have free attendance to Circlesongs with Bobby McFerrin and MOTION on the first day of camp.
-
Campers will receive their own four-hole harmonica to use at camp and take home at the end of the week.
-
Campers will receive tickets for themselves and one guardian to a show at The Freight during that week (show title TBD).

Volunteer Opportunity - distribute Lark Camp brochures
|
|
|
Opportunity 1
We would love to send you some brochures and flyers to distribute in your neck
of the woods.
If you have a hub, a spot, a venue, a shop, or various people you think would
consider coming to Lark Camp, then send your snail mail address to our communications committee and we will send you an envelope with some brochures and flyers to put up or share.
Send your snail mail address to:
executive...@larktraditionalarts.org
Opportunity 2
Two volunteers needed to help organize and label photo and video files in Google
Drive. We have digital folders full of images and video clips from the past 4 years, and our volunteer committee cannot get caught up. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to take sections of the files and give them short file description names. This
goes towards our marketing, development, and communications efforts.
To help with this, write to:
executive...@larktraditionalarts.org
