second part?? I just went to a bank, asked the Mortgage Consultant for
a printout of today's rates, and then pick up his bus. card. That's it.

So far it sounds like people are having problems with the big banks
being helpful with this information. I just went to a credit union
and copied and printed the information.

Went to Bank of America and Wells Fargo. The Mortgage Consultants
were more helpful when you were considering getting a mortgage w/
them. Still, they didn't have much information. Some people were
even able to get rates from the websites of banks. There are online
lenders that show pretty good rates vs. the banks. I also went to my
sisters Credit Union up in Sac and they actually charge $500
processing and application fee, and that's just for the application.
Still good to shop around.
