Has anyone tried to change a bulb in the forward running light. I
started to unscrew the screws behind the fixture and got the feeling
that there were nuts on the end and it would be impossible to get back
on. On previous boats there was a clever way to get at the bulb
without removing the fixture. Has anyone changed a bulb.

Regards, Bob, Braveheart, Block Island.

Hi Bob. There is a small screw at the outside bottom of the fixtures (it's very small).  Unscrew that and the lenses covers come off and you can get to the bulbs, wires and everything else. And you're right, the bolts on the backside of the fixtures are held on with nuts.

Bob, before you replace the bulb you may want to make sure it is making good contact.  I had problems with my starboard light going out from time to time but the bulb was not burned out.  I finally managed to adjust the contacts so it stays lit.  Funny I just turned on my nav lights before finishing this reply and now the port light is out.  It was working fine when leaving Block Island a couple of weeks ago in low visibility so I suspect the problem is with the contacts.  If I continue to have problems with the contacts I think I will install LOPO led nav lights.  I am very happy with the LOPO tricolor/anchor led light which also lights up my windex.

Alas my port side bulb was actually burned out.  Too bad it was not the contacts. Now my flimsy rationalization to spend more money on the LOPO nav led lights is gone.
