Hi all.

Have any of you had problems with your air conditioning condensation pan pumps failing?  I have had to replace mine several times, I know of other owners with the problem, and my dealer advises that it is a common problem and the pumps fail all the time.

Just curious if anyone has come up with a viable fix or re-design.  It’s frustrating having to replace those little pumps regularly.

On my 461 I added Mermaid's "condensator" units. Basically, instead of a pump, they are a venturi nozzle in the cooling water discharge which aspirates the water from the pan drain line.
They worked well, but only ran while the A/C pump is running.
I do not yet have A/C in my 54, but considered routing condensate runoff to the head sink drain hoses for evacuation by the shower drain.

Please don't,  I have a B49.
They had my AC drain in the main cabin installed the way you are planning and every time that shower pump
comes on it is very noisy and it cycles very fast.
I have two bilge pumps, one is a Rule 1100 in a little area that is been made like a little box in the Bilge and a bigger pump which is
not in the Bilge just the pick up hose is in this same area.
I brought a hose from the AC pan to this same box and the bilge stays completely dry and when the Rule 1100 comes on I cannot even notice it.

Funny thing, our drip pan drain pump was running longer than usual and
we found the hose had broken off of the plastic fitting. So our pump
has yet to fail, but we are in Portland, OR and use the AC sparingly.

Dan, attached is a photo of the drain hose which was installed to replace the pump in my forward air con when it failed.  It is routed to the area of the bilge with the Rule pump.
