Hi All - Again,

Anyone have PHRF numbers for a more or less stock 2009 B49 (Charleston
Spar, in mast Main). Cruising Spinaker or not. Only Speed/performace
tweak has been a MaxProp. We have also added fuel tanks, Generator,
some cabinets, an Arch, so she's a bit heavier.

Thoughts anyone??

Liquidity, 2009 B49

Hi Sean,

Red Sheilla is rated 55 PHRF.
Conventional Tall Rig, 2 kites (largest 2100sq ft no sprit) 36000lbs.

My last reply didn't show up, so I'll try again.

A 55 rating is pretty quick, probably too quick. I'd guess a 65 is
more accurate.
There is a First 50 here in Vancouver, Tiger Lily, I think her rating
is low 50's.
I'd beg for a higher rating, until you see how she goes. It's always
easy to get a lower rating, but challenging to get a higher rating
after the fact.

55 is good by me... Kinetic a First 47.7 is at 17
In New England the B49 Tall Rig is 54 (http://www.phrfne.org/page/567)

It all depends on your sail inventory... Maybe Tiger Lily kite is
fractional?

Tiger Lily has a asymetric on a continuous furler, off of a sprit of
some sort. Not sure of size, but it looks BIG.

I did review the polars between the First 50 and the B49, and they are
almost identical.
And if you go by manufacturers dry weight, the B 49 is lighter.
But the 50 has a bigger stick, and more cloth....

And costs 150K more.

I think the tall rig 49 and the first 50 are pretty close is speed. The tall rig on the 49 gives you a pretty nice main and a huge kite if rigged from the mast head.
