Hi, all

I've posted some pictures of some of the mods we have done to Hawkeye
- Genset install, inner forestay, auxiliary fuel tanks, electronics
mods etc...

garage door hatch is custom, was it a matter of cutting out the life
raft locker and installing the frame, hatch and shocks?

Thanks for that. Re the Hatch, when we removed the liferaft box to install the Genset, as we had already relocated the liferaft to the top of the coachroof (if you have to get into a liferaft, our thinking is that it should be on the high point of the boat!), we decided to go with the hatch. It is custom, and installed easily (although the hatch manufacturer mismeasured his first attempt!). It makes for really easy access to the garage (as we now call it). As you know, bulky items don't fit very well down the existing access under the helm seats.

The inner forestay works very well - we've set it up with running backstays as well, mainly so that we can hang a strom jib off it when things turn ugly

The new gauge system is great - we monitor fuel both water tanks and both black tanks. A deinate improvement on the factory system.

All the best for your upcoming summer - we're going into winter now, will sail the boat to Fiji or Tonga for the season, returning NZ in November.

Hi, again, Greg. Just to clarify - we didn't have to cut out the liferaft locker, it simply unbolts (you have to work it out as the sealant is quite strong) and you're left with a gaping hole in the transom. Pretty easy, really.

Right then. Thanks again for sharing, I will have a look at this
option for furture mods myself. Fair well, one of my pals is finishing
up his winter teaching skiing in Aspen CO, and soon back home to
Methven to run the ski school at Mt. Hutt (or is it Mr. Shut!).
