Looking to connect with family in Lomba Da Fazenda/Nordeste/Sao Miguel am buying property there

Ola all, 

I reached out to this group to get more info on my family lineage in Sao Miguel. I was very grateful for the help of some of the members here who helped me find my family going back as far back as the birth, marriage & death records were kept at the local parish in Lomba Da Fazenda. 

This month my husband & I are going back to the Island to look at property. I know my Great Grandfather Antonio Teixeira Pimentel sold his family dairy farm there in the 1950s/early 60's when it became difficult to go back as they had moved to San Francisco area & he was getting old (he died in 1968.) I am not sure if my Great Ava Maria Teves Soares ever went back after he died. But they were both from Lomba Da Fazenda & married in New Bedford Ma. The Pimentels then lost touch with all relatives on the island & in Brasil in the 1960's. 

I would love to meet cousins & family while I am there. I am just not sure how to go about doing it. If you know any Pimentel, Teixeira, Soares, Teves from the area we are most likely related & I would love to meet up with them when I am there looking at property. Any thoughts from the Azorean hive mind?

Ruth,

A taxi driver from that area may know of your family. You could pay him to take you around (some of them double as tour guides).

You could go into a local bar/snack shop and ask anyone there if they know of your family.

You could go to Mass on Sunday (or a festa if they are having one) and ask around.
