Revisiting my Family Search Lomba De Fazenda, Nordesthino, Nordest

Hello! My name is Ruth Reymundo (Pimentel, Teixeira, Teves, Soares) 

My Great Grandparents are both from Nordeste/Lomba De Fazenda and I am trying to follow their genealogy and trace them as far back as I can,  as I have what is called genetic  'founders Resonances' indicating they were part of the initial small group of people in the Nordeste/Lomba De Fazenda and Furnas regions. While it seems I have family from various islands in the Archipelago including from Madeira it seems genetically I am very much from São Miguel and my family was there for a very, very, very long time until my Bis Avos migrated. The land is stamped into me and called me home even despite family seperation and lack of connection. I felt a call to come home. 

 I had had contact on this site before where someone said my family line goes back to the founding of the records in that region. I would like to expand my current knowledge of those ancestors and their names. 

I purchased a home in São Miguel three years ago. I know I have many cousins in the region who I do not know. I practice Curandeira and so this information is also for my Familial Altar, for my Ancestral honoring practice and for familial and self healing. I was separated from my Azorean/Mexican Latin American family and kept from them as they were considered problematic due to their cultural and spiritual beliefs and I was put in a Catholic Institution in the Bay Area in California where my mother became a Religious Celibate.

        1.  Antonio Pimentel Teixeira, born 13 Nov 1890 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste, res Lomba da Fazenda; died Abt. 1968 in San Francisco, Cal. USA, buried Colma.  He was the son of 2. Joao Teixeira Pimentel and 3. Nicolina de Jesus.  He married (1) Maria Georgina 14 Oct 1914 in New Bedford, Mass., USA.  She was born 03 Sep 1894 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste, res Lomba da Fazenda.  She was the daughter of Jose Soares de Teves and Claudina Jorgina da Costa.

 

Generation No. 2

 

        2.  Joao Teixeira Pimentel, born 26 Apr 1862 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.  He was the son of 4. Manuel Teixeira Pimentel and 5. Dona Joana de Mendonca.  He married 3. Nicolina de Jesus 12 May 1887 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.

        3.  Nicolina de Jesus, born 10 Dec 1866 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.  She was the daughter of 6. Jose Jacinto do Rego or Medeiros and 7. Rosa Jacinta de Mendonca.

       

Children of Joao Pimentel and Nicolina are:

                           

        1                ii.    Antonio Pimentel Teixeira, born 13 Nov 1890 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste, res Lomba da Fazenda; died Abt. 1968 in San Francisco, Cal. USA, buried Colma; married Maria Georgina 14 Oct 1914 in New Bedford, Mass., USA.

        4.  Manuel Teixeira Pimentel, born Abt. 1825 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.  He was the son of Joao Teixeira Pimentel and *Ana Maria Cabral.  He married 5. Dona Joana de Mendonca 16 May 1858 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.

        5.  Dona Joana de Mendonca, born 27 Sep 1833 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.  She was the daughter of Pai nao Sabido and Miquelina Rosa de Medeiros.

       

Children of Manuel Pimentel and Joana Mendonca are:

                           

        2                ii.    Joao Teixeira Pimentel, born 26 Apr 1862 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste; married Nicolina de Jesus 12 May 1887 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.

                           

        6.  Jose Jacinto do Rego or Medeiros, born in Sao Pedro de Nordestinho.  He was the son of Manuel Francisco do Rego and Dona Francisca Rosa Bettencourt or Medeiros.  He married 7. Rosa Jacinta de Mendonca 17 May 1847 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.

        7.  Rosa Jacinta de Mendonca, born 13 Jun 1832 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.  She was the daughter of Manuel da Costa Lima and Miquelina Rosa de Medeiros.

       

Children of Jose Rego or Medeiros and Rosa Mendonca are:

                           

        3               iii.    Nicolina de Jesus, born 10 Dec 1866 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste; married Joao Teixeira Pimentel 12 May 1887 in Sao Jorge de Nordeste.

Hi Ruth,

To go back further, you'd need to go to your 3rd generation and start going through the pages of the books, one by one. For example, your  Manuel Teixeira Pimentel, will be just a "Manoel" (old spelling) born to Joao Teixeira Pimentel and Anna Maria or Anna Maria Cabral born around 1825 in the Sao Jorge church of Nordeste. That's how we all plug along, going back in time. One lone page at a time.
