Hi Cheri,

Not sure why he's prepopulating the 1909. But, if you click in the date field where the 1909 is located and then hit a single space, it wipes out the prepopulated value, and brings up records.

Xvlp,

The Azores had 4 ports (passaportes exist only for 3). Most people sailed from their nearest port. For Santa Maria island, that port was Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel island. I'd start looking for your people there.

Just leave the field alone and it will not filter by year even if it says "1909".  It will only filter by "1909" if you were to type "1909"  Strange but it seems that's how it works.
