I found someone on a tree in Ancestry with that name.  It shows he was born in 1902 and died in 1951.  A ship manifest, also on ancestry, shows he travelled from Ponta Delgada on the SS Cretic on 22 Feb 1921 and arrived in Boston on 28 Feb 1921 going to his uncle Jose M. Furnas in Somerset, MA.  He was leaving his father, Manuel M. Furnas, in Porto Formoso which was also his last residence and the place he was born.

Born on 3 Feb 1902 and baptized on 16 Feb 1902 at Porto Formoso.  His parents were Manuel Monis das Furnas, native of this same parish and Ana da Conceição, native of Nossa Senhora da Penha da França (Agua Retorta, Povoação).  The baptism also states that they lived in the "Lugar"of São Bras.  São Bras was a part of Porto Formoso until it became its own parish around 1980.

Margin note 1.  Marred Rosa Furtado in New Bedford, Massachusetts on 29 Sep 1923 which was registered in (in Ribeira Grande?) in 1968.  Note dated 19 Jun 1968.

Margin note 2.  Died in the parish of Porto Formoso on 21 Mar 1951.  This note also dated 19 Jun 1968.
