Hello everyone.
With the publication of modern works on the genealogy of Terceira Island—such as Philippe Garnier’s incredible book and the work by Mendes and Forjaz—we now have a clearer picture of lineage and marriage patterns on the island.

When comparing these works with Father Maldonado’s *Fênix Angrense*, certain questions arise, and some errors in that earlier work become evident.

I am a researcher of the Aguiar family—early settlers of Quatro Ribeiras—and, following the release of Philippe Garnier’s book, I am discovering inconsistencies in *Fênix Angrense* regarding my direct ancestors.

For instance, *Fênix* states that Salvador Lucas de Aguiar (married to Domingas Nunes) was the son of Domingos Ferreira de Aguiar. However, an analysis of the marriage dates of Salvador’s children and the birth dates of his grandchildren makes it impossible for him to belong to the same generation as Domingos’s other children.

Furthermore, he does not appear in the financial accounts related to João de Aguiar’s will—where he should have appeared, given that he would theoretically have been Domingos’s eldest son.

Salvador Lucas de Aguiar actually belongs to the same generation as Domingos; both were likely sons of Antão Ferreira de Aguiar!
