My name is Ron Wells and I am looking for any help that you can provide for researching the Laranjo family in the Azores.

My Sister-in-Law's family is from Candelária, Madalena, Pico, Azores, Portugal.

Her father was Manuel Joseph "Mannie" Laranjo II (13 Mar 1924 - 7 Oct 2007). He married Annabell Marie "Ann" McAllister (18 Oct 1930 - 12 Jul 2014) on 15 Jul 1951 in Santa Barbara, California.
Mannie had 2 brothers: William "Bill" Laranjo (1916-2001) & Thomas Joaquin "Tom" Laranjo (1920-2007).  They were all born in Santa Barbara, CA.

Mannie's father: Manuel Joaquin Laranjo Sr (Dec 1888/1889 - 31 Jul 1972) & Mother: Isabel Concepcion Dias (15 Feb 1889 - 30 Sep 1976) were both born on Pico.  Manuel immigrated to New York City 23 Jun 1909. Isabel immigrated in 1913.
Manuel had 1 brother and 2 sisters: Graciano Joaquim Laranjo (4 Jun 1887 - 2 Jan 1919), married Rosa da Conceição 9 May 1914; Maria Catarina Garcia (22 Aug 1891-unk), married João Garcia Rosa 23 Apr 1910; Laurentina Castro Laranjo (8 Apr 1896 - 1 Jan 1970), married João Vieira de Castro 9 Feb 1920;  All born and died in Pico.

Laranjo Sr's father: Tómas Joaquim Laranjo (29 Jul 1862 - 7 Jan 1918) & Mother: Maria Catrina De Castro (14 Mar 1865 - 16 May 1932) were both born and died in Candelária, Married 11 Oct 1886 in Nossa Senhora das Candeias.
He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Laurentia (28 Dec 1849 - unk); António (10 Feb 1852 - unk);
António (20 May 1856 - unk); Maria (2 Nov 1858 - 5 Apr 1860); Mariano (31 Mar 1866 - unk);

Tómas' mother: Maria Rosa (21 Mar 1815 - 9 Jan 1912) was also born and died in Candelária. Unfortunately I don't know who his father was.
She had 3 brothers & 3 sisters; Her parents were: Manuel Rodrigues Costa Mancebo (16 Mar 1770 - 9 Jun 1840) & Joana Rosa (12 Mar 1783 - 19 Mar 1850), married 4 Aug 1810;

I have more ancestors for Maria Rosa, but have hit a wall for the Laranjo line.
I would appreciate any help that you can provide
Regards,
Ron

Hello Ron, after a quick search, I found what I believe to be the Laranjo family on the CITCEM genealogy website spelt "Laranja" with an a. I found what I believe to be the baptism of Mannie's father, from December 14, 1888 in Candelaria. His baptism: (Bottom Left) https://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/PIC-MD-CANDELARIA-B-1876-1888/PIC-MD-CANDELARIA-B-1876-1888_item1/index.html?page=201 Unfortunately, Manuel's paternal, and maternal grandfathers were left out from the records, and following the Laranja line, purely from records is impossible, and the only way to move on from here is to utilise DNA. Here is the link for Manuel from CITCEM: http://www.ghp.ics.uminho.pt/geneweb/gwd.exe?b=cmadalena;lang=pt;i=27680;oc=2863

Best wishes
- Lucas
