Hi, I'm new to this forum and to newsgroups altogether.

I am quite worried about the threat of bird flu, even more so now that
it has hit France. My query is this, how easy is it passed to humans?
Is the threat real from live birds or from the carcasses of dead
birds?

There are quite a few parks and recreation areas around this vicinity,
with large numbers of migratory Canadian Geese.

Can anyone put my mind at rest a little.

The threat may not be as looming as most governments have taken evasive
action already.
Just follow a few tips
Try to avoid poultry food .
If at all you have poultry food , make sure its properly cooked . Even
roasted portions may contain the virus .
Carcasses contain the virus , so try to avoid them . Live birds do not
pose a threat as long as they are culled properly.
& most importantly , Do not Panic, There are medicines available to
control the outbreak in humans .
Medicines like TAmiflu, Relenza are available , so you are safe .
