I am a new memeber to the forum. I am a photographer based in Houston.
I am an urban bird watcher, which is an elaborated term for a bird
watcher too lazy to go far.
I have been watching the migratory birds in my neighborhood for years.
Being in the south, these birds arrive from the north in the winter.
This winter I have noticed a drastic decline in numbers. The most
obvious change is among the American Coot. We are talking about
dropping from hundreds to a few dozens.
I do know that my survey is not wide enough to indicate a large scale
change. But this observation combined with the bird flu news gives an
uneasy feeling. I wonder if anything has happend to these bird in
theirs summer habitat?
Anyway, I would like to contribute this if it is of any significance to
any of the experts.
