Original AHK script I wish to convert from Windows to Linux: https://github.com/NSC9/Sample_of_Work/blob/Main/AHKs/RS4_Mouse_Improvement_Macro

My system info: Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon 5.4.12 with X11

I have tried several Linux scripting alternatives like Autokey, Pyautogui, xdotools, and pynput. All have a range of problems. Autokey does not allow the left mouse button to itself be a hotkey. Pynput and other tools struggle at making while loops stop immediately when the left mouse button enters the UP keystate (see https://github.com/moses-palmer/pynput/issues/588).

I have tried using Wine, but it seems clunky. Functionality and performance of the AHK I am trying to convert from Windows to Linux operating systems matters.

You should cross post this on Gitter https://gitter.im/autokey/autokey where our advanced users hang out.

If using the mouse button as the hotkey is a requirement, you should mention that because it adds a significant level of difficulty to the project.

The USA just passed a tax law that appears to outlaw  almost all gig work which may restrict some who might otherwise be interested in helping.

Take a look at https://github.com/autokey/autokey/discussions/775 . There are a couple of projects working on implementing AHK on Linux. IDK their current status.
