Dear H.Cherdon,

For a long time, we've been dreaming up ways that AFS could offer Austin more of the art house and repertory film programming that we are so passionate about. As you've probably heard, we are making a bold move in this direction by partnering with the Marchesa Hall and Theatre (site of the former Lincoln Village) to create AFS at the Marchesa, Austin's new home for classic, independent and art house programming.

We are now reaching out to all our constituents, asking you to donate today to create the "Best Little Art House in Texas" - a new home base for AFS and a community hub:

  • Austin's go-to art house theater with exciting programs every week
  • A gathering place for moviegoers to talk about films before and after screenings
  • A home for filmmakers to exhibit their work on the 30-foot big screen
  • A venue for community organizations to access state-of-the-art equipment at reasonable rates

Over the next six weeks, we aim to raise $45,000 and we need your help to meet our goal. To build AFS at the Marchesa, AFS must invest $120,000 for necessary theater upgrades. We have already raised 30% of the funds needed, and Richard Linklater has generously made a $45,000 challenge gift, matching your donations dollar for dollar.

With your gift, you are ushering in a new era for AFS film exhibition. We can't do it without you. Together, let’s lay the foundation for AFS at the Marchesa and put Austin over the top as the best film city in the country!

We'll thank you with gifts ranging from campaign buttons and tote bags to autographed film scripts, personal studios tours and private screenings.
