Volunteer Event Coordinator Needed for Writers Events
Austin Film Meet/AIM needs a volunteer event producer/coordinator to help coordinate and produce events for writers with the support of our organization Austin Film Meet/AIM.
AIM Wordsmiths includes 2 monthly events for writers:
1 - Guest Speakers on Writer Topics - held monthly on 3rd Sunday afternoon/evening - a scheduled event with a guest speaker who will speak on a topic important to writers
2 - Screenplay Critique Sessions - held monthly on 1st Sunday afternoon/evening - casual meetings in which writers exchange scripts and fill out feedback forms, provided by AIM.
Duties for this positions include:
- Assisting in the selection of guest speakers
- Contacting and scheduling guest speakers
- Getting signatures for our guest speaker thank you cards and mailing them
- Attending Austin Film Meet mixer as Wordsmiths rep
- Introducing Wordsmiths events on open-mic at Austin Film Meet mixers
- Attending all Wordsmiths events as the primary meeting organizer
- Maintaining a sign-in sheet at all Wordsmiths events
- Occasionally answering questions via web, email or phone from event speakers, guests and members
- Encouraging membership in AIM
We also welcome any ideas you have for other writer-related events. Creativity is encouraged. The right candidate should enjoy meeting people, be resourceful and organized, but no formal event producing/coordinating experience is required. You do not need to be a professional writer but an interest in writing would be helpful. Please be comfortable with email communication. Although this position requires only a small time commitment, we need a reliable person who is available for at least 6 months to fill this position in order to continue offering events for writers.
