Call for Expressions of interest for AusSTS conference hosting 

AusSTS is now welcoming expressions of interest for conference hosts for the 2027 Annual Conference. Proposals will be reviewed by the AusSTS Executive Committee and will be assessed for viability and overall fit with the network's mission to support STS scholars in the Australasian region.

Please complete the EoI form and send us your conference hosting proposal. 

All proposals should be maximum of 1 page and include:

• Names of proposed organising committee: names, affiliations, and contact details for those involved with the proposal. We encourage organising teams with a mix of career levels (HDR students, early career researchers, senior academics).

• Names of two convenors who will chair the conference: The conference convenors are the main points of contact for the conference. They will liaise with the AusSTS Executive throughout the planning process and will be also responsible for overseeing the planning, logistics, and financial management of the conference. We recommend two co-convenors, at least one should be an early career academic.

• Proposed location and venue: name and location of hosting institution/venue

• Proposed dates: indicative dates are okay! The final conference date will be negotiated with the AusSTS executive.

• Site justification: A brief description of the place and proposed hosting institution. This section should briefly mention: 1) venue infrastructure (e.g., access to wifi, rooms for keynote and panel sessions, accessibility of buildings and rooms); 2) affordances of location (e.g., access to transport infrastructure, affordable accommodation options, access to unique field trip sites); and 3) benefits of location to the AusSTS community (e.g., how the conference will enable potential collaboration/participation with local STS adjacent groups, networks, organisations, or other academic associations).

• Team experience and support: briefly highlight most relevant experience held by the team, such as previous conference organising or STS community building. You can also note any support that might be available (e.g. event hosting funds available through your institution), as well as support arrangements for ECA convenors, such as mentorship arrangements or in-kind support to cover organising time.
