Wheels on a 1998 A4 2.8 quattro

Hi all

Are there any views out there on what is the optimum performance size
wheels on the 2.8? Stock in Oz is 16 inch but many I have seen are
bigger. The B6 3.0 litre comes with 17x7.5 and 235/45 tyres, would
these work on the 2.8?
