As a young guy, I owned an old DKW until I could afford a Mini Morris.
About 20 years ago, I bought second hand one of the first Audi 100, and
have followed the brand and its increasingly sophisticated A6 models
ever since. Driving around 40'000 miles a year around Switzerland,
since about 10 years, with the permanent Quattro system. We own now a
1996 A6 Quattro, stil with shift, with around 280'000 as well as the
new style 2003 A8 4.2 Quattro, which I bought second hand, when my 2001
A6 (my first automatic gear) was stolen in Paris in January 03 with
over 160'000 kms, as apparently Audi is now being very hot merchandise,
next to BMW.
We have never had any single problem with any of our cars, whatever the
weather conditions, which, as you can imagine, can be quite severe in
winter time (however not as bad as what the East Coast is experiencing
presently).
Looking forward to exchanging experiences and comments with all of you.
