2000 A3 Door lock problem

Hi, I've got an Audi 1.8 T Sport and the remote opens the locks as it
should but when I come to use any of the keys (including the master) it
only opens the boot and not the drivers door.

Does anybody have any ideas about either how to fix it or how muh it
may cost?

Are you talking about the key itself not being able to open the driver's/passenger's side door, or are you referring to the keyfob and having to press the unlock button twice?  If the latter, there is a VAG tweak you can do to reprogram your keyfob to allow 1 button lock/unlock of all doors and trunk.

The remote keyfob works fine, it's the actual key that doesn't work in
the driver door (the passenger door doesn't have a door lock), when I
insert the key into the lock, it turns but nothing happens, but the
same key will open the boot, but it does set the alarm off
